Keep betting under control, and where to get help

Last updated: October 1, 2026

1. OddSense and betting

OddSense is not a bookmaker and does not take bets. It shows estimates worked out from bookmakers’ prices, and REF’s take on each game. An estimate is not a promise: every bet can lose. You must be 18 or over, or older where the law where you live says so.

2. Keep betting under control

  • Only stake money you can afford to lose.
  • Set a budget and a time limit before you start, and keep to them.
  • Do not chase losses.
  • Do not bet when you are upset, tired or have been drinking.
  • Treat betting as entertainment, never as a way to make money or to solve money problems.

3. Signs it may be a problem

  • Betting more than you can afford, or for longer than you meant to.
  • Hiding your betting from people close to you.
  • Borrowing money to bet or to cover losses.
  • Feeling anxious, irritable or low when you are not betting.

If this sounds familiar, please reach out for help.

4. Tools your bookmaker offers

Licensed bookmakers generally have to offer deposit and betting limits, time-outs and self-exclusion. Set these with your bookmaker: OddSense cannot set them for you, because it does not hold your money or your betting account.

Only bet with bookmakers licensed where you live. The regulator keeps the list: in Portugal, the SRIJ (https://www.srij.turismodeportugal.pt/pt/jogos-e-apostas-online/entidades-licenciadas); in Brazil, the Secretaria de Prêmios e Apostas of the Ministry of Finance; in the United Kingdom, the Gambling Commission (https://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk).
